Johnny Logan was due to be joined by Loreen during his semi-final interval act at Eurovision 2024.
One of Eurovision’s most well-known winners, Johnny Logan, was announced as an interval act for Semi-Final One of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in early May. Johnny Logan won the contest for Ireland in 1980 and 1987 as a performer and again in 1992 as a songwriter.
Aftonbladet has now reported that both Eurovision winners, Johnny Logan and Loreen, had been due to sing together during this interval act. However, Loreen dropped out at a later point. The claims are denied by Loreen’s manager Tony Beard. Loreen is still due to perform in the grand final of the contest.
Johnny Logan will be covering Loreen’s 2012 winning Eurovision entry “Euphoria” along with a live orchestra during the semi-final one on May 7th.
Also performing in Semi-Final One on May 7 is Benjamin Ingrosso who will perform a medley of some of his biggest hits. Ingrosso is one of Sweden’s biggest popstars, with his song “Kite” becoming his first Swedish number 1 in 2024. He also previously represented Sweden at Eurovision 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal with the song “Dance You Off”.
Eurovision 2024
Loreen won the 67th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest for Sw.eden with “Tattoo”. She is the first female two-time winner of the competition, having previously won the 2012 contest with “Euphoria”.
Ultimately, this is Sweden’s seventh Eurovision win, following victories in 1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012 and 2015. This makes Sweden the joint most successful country in Eurovision alongside Ireland. Loreen has also become the first woman and the second person overall to win Eurovision twice.
Malmö will host the contest for the third time, having previously hosted in 1992 and 2013.
